The corporation MP LESY s r. o.
was established in 1993 to manage the forests which were returned in restitution to the Mensdorff-Pouilly family, who also own the Castle Boskovice and Chateau Boskovice.
The forests span 4550 ha (11100 acres) and are located in the central part of the Drahansky Highlands, east of the town of Boskovice. The bulk of the estate is located on a plateau approx. 600m above sea level, with Skalky as the highest point at 735m above sea level which is the highest in the Drahansky highlands. The boundaries of the estate are magnificant and lush, with a rugged expanse that crosses many hills and valleys.
Spruce tress compose approx. 82% of the forests with beech covering approx. 10% and larch covering approx. 5%. Yearly yeild of wood from the forests is approx. 28000 cubic meters with the majority being spruce, beech, and other hardwoods.
MP Lesy does not only manage the forests but is also active in other areas. MP Lesy also buys and sells raw wood material, provides forestry services to non-state owners of forests, grows seedlings in nursuries which, combined, span 4 ha, and also offer the seedlings for sale.
MP Lesy is licensed as a professional commercial forestry company, licensed to produce seeds and seedlings of forests woods and holds the PEFC certificate.
